Institution: Virginia Tech Position Title: Director of Development for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, Posting #0100650 Job Location: Blacksburg, VA Description: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development for Colleges, the Director of Development (DOD) is the chief major-gift officer for the College who also has administrative and managerial responsibilities. He/She works closely with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, senior administration and faculty, and will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the College's comprehensive development program and overall fundraising efforts from all private sources in support of current operations, endowment, capital and other purposes. He/She will fulfill these duties under the direction of and in close cooperation with the university's Central Development Office. Responsibilities: -Provide leadership, oversight and coordination of the fundraising activities for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences within designated timeframes; develop comprehensive operating plan to outline goals and strategies for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences program. -Lead responsibility for the College's Campaign sub-priorities and goals within the Virginia Tech: Invent the Future Campaign. -Lead and manage the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Campaign Steering Committee. -Travel extensively both regionally and nationally to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. More than 65 percent of the Director's time will be invested in conducting face-to-face contacts with prospects. A minimum average of 20+ significant visits for the unit will be scheduled monthly. -Supervise an administrative support position and any College Associate or Assistant Director(s) to insure that their fundraising and officer benchmark goals are achieved. -Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects. Serve as primary staff for college's top-rated individual prospects of $50,000 or more, developing and implementing cultivation and successful solicitation strategies. -Work in collaboration with Central Development's college-assigned corporate officer(s) (supervised centrally) to assist in identifying college corporate links and coordinate any efforts that overlap with individual major-gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. -Work with Donor Stewardship to develop, implement and review gift acknowledgment and recognition programs for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences donors. -Serve as primary development staff to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences leadership boards as they relate to fundraising. -Serve as a key member of the College's administrative staff, as well as that of the Office of University Development. This includes establishing strong working relationships with Central Development, collegiate and university programs development officers, and the College staff to foster a productive work environment. -The Director, working closely with his or her staff of officers, the Dean, department heads, and program and center directors should develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies in support of the College's programs. -Develop and manage a program of development volunteers for the solicitation of funds for the College including identification, enlistment, and training. -Use Central Development and College resources to delegate details and tasks as appropriate. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and experience or Master's Degree required. An appreciation of the range of disciplines represented in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences is required. Candidates should demonstrate a successful track record in major-gift fundraising. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the capability of motivating volunteers, professional staff, and donors. Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for the purposes of conducting field research, cultivation, and solicitation. Strong motivation and the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Should be capable of leading a program including goal setting, evaluation, and planning. Must be able to communicate with key faculty and administrative professionals. I have two Slant Fin industrail boilers. I got them from a local high school when they upgraded their system hoping that I could use one in my house. They are rated 375000 input BTUs & 300000 output. They are gas boilers. I asked the janitor/maintenance guy at the school to make sure that I had two working boilers and he assured me that they were. I got one to install & one for parts. Both have dents on the exterior metal from the moving process but nothing major. I dont have a clue what pics someone may need of a boiler but I will be happy to email more if you give me a call. Beautiful Piano. Great sound. We have had it probably 8 to 10 years and it has made a great picture holder. ( Neither of my daughters took an interest) It's been played maybe 5 hours since weve had it. We had it tuned when we first got it and it still seems to be in tune with the exception of 1 key. The key mechanically works perfect but it just has a bad sound. There is a songbook holder that isn't in the pictures. The songbooks are included as well.
